SUMMER SOLSTICE 2008
We welcomed Summer on Friday, June 20th, with a Solstice Celebration at Mary's Therapeutic Farm and Sanctuary - a beautiful, expansive farm land on the edge of Goldstream Park.

Fifty wonderful people turned up for the Festivities . . .
We started to gather at 7 pm.
The horses graciously lent us their wide open
pasture for our Celebration!

Sweet music and percussive heartbeats filled the air.  People began to sing and dance . . .

At Mary's, four-leggeds and two-leggeds walk side by side . . .

A chance to sit back, chat, & relax with resident Goats and Llamas
There was an abundance of delicious food - something for every taste bud!

Lucy the Llama was on hand to say hello and smell your breath (this is how she gets to know you better).  Careful, though - she might nab your food when you're not looking!
Lucy likes to make friends . . .
Lucy looves popcorn!

There were plenty of musicians, with all manner of instruments . . .

Yves leads a singing circle.  Others gather round to listen.
The magic hour of dusk seemed to last forever on this longest day of the year . . .
When night finally came, we all gathered round the fire, drumming, strumming, rattling, singing,
and telling stories to our hearts' content.  Many stayed on until the wee hours of the morning.

Gratitude to Each and All for coming together to create this beautiful Event!

Many thanks to:
Mary's Therapeutic Farm and Sanctuary for providing the space
silentSama and Harriet Graham for sharing their photos

We look forward to many more Celebrations to come!
There was no set agenda for our Celebration - the Community co-created it from Moment to Moment!
