Here are some things I've discovered:
Jellyfish teach us about faith and acceptance, as they have very little ability to move on their own. They surrender to the tides, flow with currents, dance with the moon. They always have trust that they are moving towards their sustenance.
The jellyfish is a very simple, efficient organism that is the same today as it was when it first made its appearance on Earth. It has not seen any necessity to change its form over all of this time. Therefore, we may look to it as a model to aspire to in our own process of evolution.
The Jellyfish is completely transparent – we can see all of its inner workings; there are no secrets; it holds nothing in, lets life – water – flow through freely. As we become more conscious, individually and as a global community, we become more and more transparent. As we become more transparent, we shine even brighter.
When we look deeply into a jellyfish's belly, we can see the electricity, the incredible amount of power it generates. It shows us how much light we have at our own center. It shows us that we can always turn on that light bulb inside of us, no matter how dark it may be on the outside.
The jellyfish can show up in our lives at that moment when all seems lost. It shows us that we carry our own source (and re-sources) deep inside of us. We are more powerful than we realize. Jellyfish wisdom teaches us how to claim our power and use it wisely.
The jellyfish carries the medicine of the lightning bolt. Its stingers show us that even the most delicate and vulnerable organism can protect and feed itself, but only when necessary. The jellyfish can show up as a spark of insight – firing synapses – a Eureka moment! It can come to energize us and light our path, just when we need it most.
The moon jellies are the gentlest of all: no stingers, but pure, transparent moon-bodies. We see so many on this day, especially in the Brentwood Bay area, literally thousands of them. I am so intrigued by this phenomenon that I do some research. What I learn is even more intriguing: the proliferation of moon jellies (or Aurelia, as the species is called) is part of a growing trend – not only in Brentwood Bay, but world-wide.
When I look up the Latin word "Aurelia", I find: "The chrysalis, or pupa of an insect, esp. when reflecting a brilliant golden color, as that of some of the butterflies." I feel that, the Aurelia are coming as thousands of mirrors, thousands of bright - enlightened - souls, to show us who we are becoming – individually, and as an evolving collective consciousness.
Jellyfish do not have brains because they share one mind. These jellyfish depend on each other – their extended ‘family’ - for survival, and they have done this since the beginning of time. They show us not only how to grow - but flourish - as a Community.
And today, they appear to us as thousands of shining souls, celebrating our Ceremony, our Blessings, our Clearing of the waters. Their bright and gentle existence reminds us how easily we can live in harmony and grace and beauty with each other, All Our Relations, and our sweet Earth.
